Miami Jazz Fest 2016 kicks off with Rodriguez Bros

Miami's music lovers are getting ready to groove once more during three days of live jazz music at the Miami International Jazz Fest (MIJF) 2016, featuring renowned artists and new talents from Thursday, April 28th to Saturday, April 30th, 2016.

Nominated for the last Grammy's, The Rodriguez Brothers will kick off this year's Miami International Jazz Fest at the Koubek Center on Thursday in downtown Miami, while international star Allan Harris will conclude the 3-day jazz smorgasbord the following saturday at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater.

The Rodriguez Brothers - Miami International Jazz Fest 2016Co-led by pianist/composer Robert and trumpeter/composer Michael, the family duet of The Rodriguez Brothers will take on the Koubek Center stage on Thursday, April 28th (7:30 pm & 9:00 pm) to perform a selection of their best tunes from from their debut LP "Introducing the Rodriguez Brothers" (2002) to the acclaimed "Conversations" (2007), and their latest "Mood Swings".

The next day at 8:00 pm, the Little Haiti Cultural Arts Center will resonate with the Afro-Haitian ruthms of New York City’s premier Haitian Jazz band Mozayik, who will delight the crowds with a mix of impros and tunes from their critically acclaimed “Haitian Creole Jazz" album.

Finally, the Miami International Jazz Fest 2016 will draw to a conclusion on Saturday, April 30th, with a fireworks of intense jazz singing, as three artists will line up at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater in North Miami Beach, starting at 7:30 pm.

Allan Harris - Miami International Jazz Fest 2016Multi-talented and internationally applauded Allan Harris and his band will kick off the show, offering a compelling palette of cross-cultural jazz combining , “the warmth of Tony Bennett, the bite and rhythmic sense of Sinatra, and the sly elegance of Nat ‘King’ Cole,” (Miami Herald).

Considered one of the foremost Argentinian jazz artist, South Florida songwriter Roxana Amed will lead a jazz quintet featuring Martín Bejerano (piano), Mark Small (saxophone), Josh Allen (acoustic bass) and Rodolfo Zuñiga (drums), to perform her original mix of jazz and latin music.

Finally, Miami's own Natalia Sulca will deploy a vocal charms to wrap up the MIJF 2016, singing an array of ear-pleasing songs spanning generations of pop music hits and latin jazz classics.
