Islamorada celebrates 25th anniversary of Florida Keys Island Fest
Brace for a week-end of fun, art, music and food as the Florida Keys Island Fest 2016 returns to celebrate its 25th anniversary at Founders Park in Islamorada from April 9 to April 10, 2016.
During those two days, Islamorada Island Fest will let guests indulge in all the best the Florida Keys have to offer, from the finest local foods and wines to live music, arts, a classic car show, a homemade boat race and fun activities for kids.
Island Fest is a FREE daytime event that will take place at Islamorada's Founders Park (Mile Marker 87 Bayside), on April 9 and 10 (10am to 5pm on both days).
Island Fest 2016: Arts & Crafts
Arts and crafts will take the center stage at this years' Island Fest with more than 100 artists showcasing their work, from paintings to jewelry and sculptures at the Plantation Yacht Harbor Arts & Crafts Show.
Among others, guests will admire the works of tropical impressionist painter and creator of the Island Fest 2016 poster (pictured left) Amanda Johnson, as well as amazing naïve paintings of William Cantwell, and poetic natural photos of Steve Nesius.
Taste of Islamorada 2016
A casual food get-together at first, Taste of Islamorada has become a staple event of Island Fest, pitching many local restaurants in a culinary contest that will delight the most demanding tasting buds.
Attendees will be able to taste classic and groundbreaking recipes from the best local chefs, who will compete to grab the awards for best entrée, best dessert and other honorific prizes.
All-American Road Vintage Cruisers Car Show
The All-American Road Vintage Cruisers Car Show will stage its 6th edition at Island Fest with a amazing display of antique cars, motorcycles and trucks, as their respective owners compete for many awards from Coolest Cruiser to Funkiest Foreign.
Island Fest 2016 Live Music Shows
What's better than a whole day of free seaside live music? Two days, that what! Island Fest 2016 will never let the beat down as live music performers succed to one another on the beachfront stage.
Local and island music will be everpresent all day long and culminate on Saturday night with Cecilia Lauren and the Ocoee River Band, an energetic, self-appointed "redneck rock" band covering all the classics from Patsy Cline to Guns N' Roses.
Other performers include The Pitbull of Blues Band, Islamorada's own Dave Feder, as well as South Florida Country Music Awards winner Tim Charron Band.
Kids activities and homemade boat race
Kids are encourage to participate in many activities, from painting dolphin statues, to competing at hula hoop, and building sand castles with the help of local sand artists.
Meanwhile, the crowd's favorite event What Floats Your Boat? will make its return at Island Fest with the 2nd edition of this delirious homemade boat race that will yield yet more improbable awards from the Lucky Ducky Admiral Award to the self-explanatory Sink and Swim Award.
